To celebrate the Year of the Rooster, Nottingham Confucius Institute is offering two free taster sessions, open to anyone interested in Chinese language and culture.
Each session will give an introduction to Chinese New Year celebrations, important Chinese traditions and taboos, and Chinese wine and tea drinking etiquette (which includes the chance to try Chinese tea). They will also cover some basic Mandarin Chinese phrases, which will enable you to greet Chinese speakers and celebrate the festive season together.
The two sessions are tailored for participants with different levels of previous knowledge about Chinese language and culture and both sessions run from 12:30-13:20pm:
Tuesday 7 February (Beginners) - suitable for people with little prior knowledge of Chinese language and culture, who may not have been to China, but intend to visit or work there in the future.
Wednesday 8 February (Post-beginners) - suitable for people with some basic Mandarin and knowledge of China, who may have already visited, and would like to find out more about Chinese language and culture.
Both sessions are free to attend but, as places are limited, please RSVP to confucius.institute@nottingham.ac.uk by Friday 3 February.
