A free lunchtime talk in connection with Manuscripts and Special Collections’ latest exhibition, Weather Extremes: Making and breaking records in Nottinghamshire.
Mark Twain reputedly claimed 'Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.' But do we in fact know whom to blame for 'bad' weather? In this talk, Professor Mike Hulme of King's College, London University, surveys different historical and cultural explanations for bad weather and ends with some reflections on wheather or not climate science today is offering a new and helpful narrative of blame.
This is free however, places are limited so please book in advance online or with the Box Office on 0115 846 7777. See the Lakeside Arts website for more details, or contact mss-library@nottingham.ac.uk.
The exhibition continues until Sunday March 26, 2017.
