'ESRC' stands for the Economic and Social Research Council. The ESRC is one of seven Research Councils in the UK, and is the UK's largest organisation for funding research on economic and social issues. It supports independent, high quality research which has an impact on business, the public sector and civil society.
ESRC funding for postgraduate students is delivered via its Doctoral Training Network. The Midlands Graduate School (MGS) is one of the ESRC's Doctoral Training Partnerships which forms part of this network: a consortium of 6 Universities that have come together to provide the highest quality doctoral training and cohort building centres of excellence in the country and beyond.
As part of the MGS, the University of Nottingham offers 13 training pathways, from Economics to Politics, Sociology to Psychology and Mental Health and Wellbeing.
