Presented by Kirsten Bairstow-Robb (School for Parents, Nottingham) as part of the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Seminar Series 2017/18.
Conductive Education is a holistic approach to education which seeks to teach individuals with brain injuries how to connect and engage with the world around them. This seminar will look at some of the effects of brain injuries on learning and will focus on how the parents of children with brain injuries can be involved in their child’s development. In addition the session will look at some of the tools used in our pre-school setting to promote and enhance learning.
Kirsten Bairstow-Robb has been working in the Field of Conductive Education for more than 20 years. Having trained at the Peto Institute in Budapest and qualifying as a primary teacher, Kirsten then went on to become course tutor on the Conductive Education course at Keele University.
She currently works for a charity in Nottingham called ‘School for Parents’ which seeks to support parents of children with disabilities and teach their children independence skills. Kirsten is passionate about the inclusion of children with motor disabilities into mainstream schools.
