SEN and Disabilities Seminar Series 2017/18.

Presented by Tessa Morton and Jane Gurnett.

As a teacher you contribute to the environment. Your ability to connect with pupils with Autistic Spectrum Conditions can determine if a they feel safe or in a state of alert. Through a series of exercises this session will support you both connecting empathetically with pupils on the spectrum and developing a pupil centred approach to autism.

Tessa Morton is the founder of Act for Autism a non for profit business set up to train teachers and parents to connect empathetically with Autism. She runs parent training for Warwickshire County Council.

Her passion comes from being a mum of an autistic 18 year old. A drama therapist, she is also a member of the BACP as a counsellor working with families and their autistic children. She is joined by her colleague Jane Gurnett who is a teacher and has a PG cert in Autism from Birmingham University.
