Research and innovation has the potential to improve the daily life for millions of people around the world.
As researchers, we have a responsibility to ensure our research methods, governance and practise are not only ethically sound but also socially responsible. Institutions and individuals are increasingly being held to account by funding bodies, governments and the public to demonstrate that their own research is being conducted with consideration for the values, needs and expectations of society. In particular, research in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) disciplines can raise uncomfortable questions for society and the impact of the research may be unpredictable.
We invite all researchers from first year doctoral students, through to highly experienced academic colleagues in the Social Sciences and STEM disciplines to join us at this pioneering conference. It will help prepare you for the challenges you will encounter in conducting your research and explore the possible impact and implications arising from your own work that may otherwise remain uncovered.
This conference will take place 9.30am - 5.30pm on Tuesday 22 October at the East Midlands Conference Centre, University Park.
