Business travel is an important tool for the University of Nottingham. It enables us carry out research, collaborate, knowledge share with partners around the world, contribute to our global reach and allow our students and staff to attend opportunities abroad.
At the same time business travel, particularly flying, has a significant environmental impact and is one of the most carbon intensive actions an individual can take.
As we develop our new Carbon Management Plan and support the University Strategy, we are exploring opportunities to transition to a more climate-conscious approach to business travel.
To help inform this work we are hosting two online town hall events for the wider university community. At these meetings we will share detail on the contribution that university travel makes to our overall carbon emissions and explore the drivers, barriers to alternatives, and opportunities for a more climate conscious approach to travel.
These meetings will be held via Microsoft Teams on Tuesday 27 July at 11.30-12.30 and Wednesday 4 Aug at 10.30-11.30.
