Join us in-person on Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 September 2023 as we reconnect with our international community and share the latest advances in the field of recovery research.
We want the Refocus on Recovery 2023 conference to be an opportunity to come together as a community of people with shared interests, and to create and strengthen research collaborations. Our conference will focus on the three themes of cross-cultural learning, digital approaches, and re-imagining services.
Registration and abstract submission now open – the final submission deadline is midnight on 8 May (UK time).

The event will feature a welcome speech by Vice-Chancellor Professor Shearer West on Wednesday 6 September at 1.30pm.
Refocus on Recovery is the most established mental health recovery research conference in the world. After taking a break during the pandemic, we look forward to welcoming you back for Refocus on Recovery 2023 – Changing Conversations; Fostering Connections; Building Communities. The aim of the conference is to advance the field of recovery research and to create an international community of influence.
The conference brings together leading researchers and people who use mental health services, their carers and informal supporters, mental health workers and professionals, and policy-makers and other stake-holders from across mental health services and wider systems.
We want the Refocus on Recovery 2023 conference to be an opportunity to come together as a community of people with shared interests, and to create and strengthen research collaborations. Our main focus will therefore be on re-connecting after the pandemic. Talks from invited speakers and the ten best submitted oral presentations will all be presented in plenary sessions.
This will showcase the very best recovery research internationally, and will allow more time for networking. We are also focussing on inclusivity, for example by including the conference dinner as part of the registration fee, which is lower than for our last conference in 2019.
