New catalogues added in January and February 2010

New collections

Descriptions of 7 new collections have been released on the Manuscripts Online Catalogue. The hyperlinks in the descriptions below take you to a more detailed catalogue entry.

• Papers of Victor Horsley, pupil at High Pavement School, Nottingham , 1918-1928 (MS 284)
• Copy photographs of Laxton, Nottinghamshire , originally taken c.1890-1970; 2009 (MS 829)
• Abstract of Mark Pierce's 1635 survey of Laxton, Nottinghamshire , n.d. [c.1913-1928] (MS 853)
• Material relating to Staythorpe Power Station, 1946-1964 (MS 835)
• Collection of documents with local interest to Nottingham and Lincolnshire , apparently collected by Bernard B. Granger, 1700-1943 (MS 839). The collection contains an agricultural diary kept by William Booth of Kirkby-in-Ashfield in 1812
• Copy letters relating to the enclosure of Beeston, Nottinghamshire , 1806-1807, with an unrelated bill charged to the Hon. Miss Hobhouse, 1851 (MS 840)
• Abstracts of the wills of various Mayors of Nottingham , 1572-1773, made by Mr A. Bernard Clarke, c.1936 (MS 841)

Catalogue conversion and upgrading

In addition, staff have been busy converting existing paper catalogues into electronic form, and upgrading others with further details. Full details of the following collections are now available on the Manuscripts Online Catalogue as well as in hard copy format in the Reading Room:

• Estate Papers of the Kirke Family of East Markham, Nottinghamshire , 1560-1942 (Ki)
• Clifton Collection Deeds, Settlements, Wills, and Personal Grants , 16th-19th century (Cl D)
• Papers of Henry Swinnerton (1875-1966), Professor of Geology at University College Nottingham (MS 148). This collection had already been described on the online catalogue, but the catalogue is now complete down to bundle and item level

Archdeaconry Presentment Bills

Work is continuing on extracting details of people brought before the Archdeaconry Court for committing various offences. The indexes are available via the Archdeaconry Person Index part of the Manuscripts Online Catalogue.

Details from the Presentment Bills from Reford Deanery, 1720-1729 (series AN/PB 348) have now been added to the main catalogue and the Archdeaconry Person Index .
