Neuroscience at Nottingham

Welcome to Neuroscience at the University of Nottingham, a rapidly expanding field of study where you’ll look into the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nervous system in both healthy and diseased humans and animals. 

Our course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology, and you'll cover topics such as the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nervous system, as well as neurological diseases and disorders such as epilepsy, schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s.

It integrates discoveries and concepts from neurophysiology, neuropharmacology, anatomy, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics and psychology. Gaining a deeper understanding of how the brain works is vital to improving people’s lives.  
Many current advances in biology and medicine rely on the application of molecular, genetic, physiological and behavioural methods, generating an increase in national demand for graduates with expertise in neuroscience.

You can choose to study a three-year BSc course or a four-year MSci course within the field of Neuroscience. The integrated MSci course gives you an additional year of teaching, as well as a 9 to 12 month placement at a laboratory in the UK or abroad.
