Instructions for Use

This competency training is based around assessing and making a judgement on a student's competence and fitness for practice. Once you are registered and logged in you will be presented with a student scenario in which you can assess an 'e-OAR document' and a video of the student practice. Following your assessment of the student scenario you will be presented with an evaluation questionnaire as to whether you feel the student has achieved the required standard of proficiency in order to join the register as a qualified Nurse. There are two scenarios available to you which you can attempt and on completion will provide evidence of competence.

Prior to attempting the scenarios it is recommended that you spend some time reading the attached NMC documents and revision notes. It is recommended you spend at least half an hour on each scenario.

On successful completion of each of the scenarios you will be given an automatically generated certificate which you should print and keep for your records. You must complete and pass two of the scenarios from the site. When you have been assessed by a qualified Sign off Mentor on your third student in practice you will then be able to assess and sign off students.

It is recommended you make notes during the video and while reading the OAR entries related to the scenario.
