... how it works

The service is provided in the form of an annual contract for a herd. At the start of a contract you will be provided a startup pack which includes:

    an information pack

    the software on a CD-ROM disk.

    milk sample pots

    labels and marker pens

    return packaging

Having installed the software onto your computer (the CD-ROM has an easy to use installation program) you will need to provide basic details for each cow (such as herd line number, date of birth of cow, calving date, calving details, lactation number). You would then need to take milk samples for each cow being monitored from around 30 days after calving until a successful pregnancy diagnosis - the software produces lists of which cows need sampling.

The samples will be collected weekly by a courier and taken to the laboratory for analysis. After any information about the herd has been updated (insemination dates, behavioural observations, any veterinary treatments etc.) you would send the data to PROMISETM as an email attachment. This data is combined with the latest progesterone information to produce an up to date analysis of the fertility status of each animal. This is returned to you by email as a data file which the program uses to store and present the information.

    enter basic fertility data and email to PROMISETM

    collect milk samples for those cows being monitored

    receive and view valuable fertility information for each cow
