Limits of TOP-TAAP traps

Steep traps and waveguides are of crucial importance to the viability of matter-wave Guidedmatterwavesensors. In this shorter project (6-12months) we will explore the limits of trapping in time-averaged adiabatic (TAAP) and time-orbiting (TOP) potentials.  We have recently demonstrated that we can achieve BEC in a TOP trap with 1.8 kHz trapping frequency with an gradient of only 4 T/m. We will combine a theoretical analysis together with UNOTT with a systematic study on Crete.
