Volunteering your research

There may be opportunities to volunteer your research time or capacity to support Covid-19 efforts.

Volunteering research time and resources

Where there are specific calls for volunteers to support urgent national research, such as the recent call from the Royal Society for modellers to commit to a nationally coordinated programme, we encourage you to respond, provided you follow the simple steps below. This is to ensure you are keeping us informed of all commitments and getting the appropriate approvals for your time and use of University facilities, equipment or consumables.

Volunteering your personal time and skills

You will be able to judge the impact on your existing research, teaching and other commitments. In order for us to monitor the University’s contribution, please inform your Head of School and email maria.arruda@nottingham.ac.uk in Reasearch and Innovation.

Volunteering research team time

Please request approval from your Head of School, paying particular attention to the specific requirements for postgraduate researcher volunteering and email maria.arruda@nottingham.ac.uk.

Volunteering that will require use of University facilities, equipment or consumables

In addition to gaining approval from your Head of School, please submit a 500-word summary of proposed activities by email to maria.arruda@nottingham.ac.uk. This case will then be reviewed by the Research Triage and Covid-19 oversight groups as appropriate, whose additional approval you will need.
