Carlos Gomez, Richard Leach, Mingyu Liu, Lewis Newton, Adam Thompson and Luke Todhunter attended the 22nd Metrology & Properties of Surfaces Conference from 3 – 5 June in Lyon, France. They presented 4 oral papers: Mathematical reference standards for validating software for calculating surface texture parameters, Feature-based characterisation of Ti6Al4V electron beam powder bed fusion surfaces fabricated at different orientations, Surface characterisation with light scattering and machine learning, Case studies in X-ray computed tomography surface texture measurement; and one poster: Characterisation of the surface topography evolution of an ink-jet printed transparent fluoroplastic with coherence scanning interferometry.
All papers were received well and attracted questions. The conference was of a particularly high technical standard with many of the world experts present as always. The gala dinner included delicious Lyon cuisine and a boat trip down the Soane. The next Met & Props will be in Strathclyde in 2021.
