Home to several leading research centres, the Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) Research Group is globally recognised to be at the forefront of research in manufacturing technologies and systems. 

Whether developing an existing product or creating a new one as a result of new advanced methods, our research portfolio addresses a number of challenges faced by society today; from investigating the use of robotics in surgical procedures to developing new smart solutions for assembly of aircraft wings and methods for repair of aero engines.

The AMT group has state of the art facilities and is home to several leading research centres.

Research is conducted into all aspects of manufacturing processes and systems including machining, robotic assembly and metrology and is supported by world class teaching and research facilities, with the latest technologies and equipment. Over the years the AMT group has proved its ability to solve technical problems for industry while collaborating with some of the most reputable research groups and centres across the world.
