Waiel picks up prize at ASME conference

Waiel Elmadih attended the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME): Mechanics and Robotics Conference in Anaheim, California from 18th to 21st August 2019. The conference was chaired and organized by Prof. Craig Lusk and Prof. Jonathan Hopkins. Waiel presented a paper titled “Tuning of elastic wave propagation for formation of mechanical vibration bandgaps in three-dimensional metamaterials” which drew on results from the recent MMT journal paper found here. Waiel won the award for best interactive presentation at the conference, and then got the chance to enjoy the lovely California beaches and, of course, the famous Hollywood sign from the Griffith Observatory.
