On Tuesday 24th November, representatives from manufacturing industry, metrology providers, and research organisations were invited to mark the launch of the new Midlands Centre for Data-Driven Metrology (MCDDM).
A collaboration between the University of Nottingham, Loughborough University and Coventry University, the new Centre will focus on supporting UK manufacturing in the adoption of data-rich metrology for Industry 4.0. The MCDDM will focus not only on cutting-edge measurement research, but also on shop floor implementation of novel technologies, and training for the next generation of manufacturing and metrology experts.
The event was attended by over 100 participants and showcased talks from founding partners Rolls-Royce, the Manufacturing Technology Centre and National Physical Laboratory on how each organisation sees the future priorities for Industry 4.0, and how MCDDM will help to progress these plans.
