Adam Thompson discusses calibration at dXCT 2021

Dr Adam Thompson presented work performed by Angela Rodriguez Sanchez and himself at this year’s virtual dimensional X-ray computed tomography (dXCT) conference, in a talk entitled “Calibration of X-ray computed tomography for surface texture measurement using metrological characteristics”. This work covers the application of the ISO 25178-600 framework to an X-ray computed tomography system, presenting a universal calibration artefact to be used for this purpose. Adam demonstrated a method providing an assessment of the metrological characteristics framework with respect to X-ray computed tomography systems and for calibrating XCT systems for surface topography measurements, using the preliminary results that have been generated from this work. Following Angela’s recent departure from the team, this work will be completed in the coming months by MSC student, Ziyi Xu.
