Richard Leach, Adam Thompson, Lewis Newton, Mingyu Liu, Afaf Renami and Joe Eastwood attended the joint euspen and ASPE Special Interest Group Meeting: Advancing Precision in Additive Manufacturing (virtual) from 21st to 23rd September 2021. They were involved in the following:
Afaf presented a SOTA oral paper “State-of-the-art of in-process measurement methods for defect identification in metal powder bed fusion”, based on a published journal paper co-authored with Richard, Andrew Dickins (MMT), and Marco Grasso and Bianca Colosimo (Politecnico of Milan).
Joe presented a SOTA oral paper “State of the art: machine learning for precision additive manufacturing”.
Mingyu presented an oral paper “Fast measurement of metal laser powder bed fusion layer surfaces using light scattering and principal component analysis”, co-authored with Richard and Nicola Senin (MMT).
Afaf presented an oral paper “Design of a multi-sensor measurement system for in-situ defect identification in metal additive manufacturing”, co-authored with Richard, Adam (MMT), John Dardis and Nick Jones (Renishaw), and Richard Williams and Paul Hooper (Imperial College London)
Lewis presented a stand-in oral paper “Good practice in the measurement of surface texture for additive manufacturing”, based on work presented at CIRP General Assembly, co-authored with Richard, Adam and Nicola Senin (MMT).
Richard chaired the In-process metrology session and Adam chaired the poster session.
Richard co-chaired the conference with John Taylor (UNCC).
Nick Goddard (CEO) also presented in the commercial session on MMT spin-out, Taraz Metrology Ltd
