Richard Leach, Shah Karim and Waiel Elmadih attended the ASPE Annual Conference

Richard Leach, Shah Karim and Waiel Elmadih attended the ASPE Annual Conference hosted by UNCC, Charlotte, NC, USA from 29th October to 3rd November 2017. Our visiting professor, Peter de Groot was also present. The meeting was attended by around 400 precision engineering and metrology experts, from a mixture of industrial and research backgrounds. Waiel presented an oral paper (with Wahyudin Syam, Ian Maskery and Richard) entitled “Additively manufactured lattice structures for precision engineering applications” and Shah Karim presented a poster paper on our work with RAL on laser fusion target delivery (with Samanta Piano, Richard and Martin Tolley) entitled “Error modelling of a hybrid five degree of freedom mechanism for manipulation of high repetition rate laser microtargets” (paper, poster). Shah and Karim joined a team from University of Rochester on the student challenge. Richard also attended the Metrology Technical Leadership Committee and is tasked to put together a keynote on in-process measurement for next year. The next meeting in the series will be in Las Vegas in October 2018.
