Richard Leach attended the International Conference on Optical and Photonic Engineering (icOPEN) in Shanghai, China from 8th to 11th May 2018. The meeting was attended by around 400 optical and photonics experts, mainly from China, from a mixture of industrial and research backgrounds. Richard presented an invited paper in a special information-rich metrology session entitled “Enhancing freeform shape measurement using artificial intelligence”, summarising our research in this field. The next meeting in the series will be in in Thailand in 2019.
During the trip to China, Richard also visited and gave seminars at Hong Polytechnic University (Prof. Cheung), Tianjin University (Prof. Fang) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Dr Ren).
