Siwen Chen, Amrozia Shaheen and Simon Lawes attended PAM^2 workshop in Leuven on Basics of Additive Manufacturing
Siwen Chen and Amrozia Shaheen attended a workshop on 'Basics of Additive Manufacturing' held in KU Leuven, Belgium from 19th to 22nd September 2017. The first two days were dedicated to seminars given by researchers from industry and academia on basics of additive manufacturing. As a member of the supervisory board of the PAM^2 project, Simon Lawes gave a seminar about the fundamentals of metrology on the second day. On the third day of the workshop, Siwen Chen gave a brief introduction of the primary types of defects during the additive manufacturing process and plans for the future research. Amrozia Shaheen also gave a presentation on optical form measurement of complex rough surfaces to improve the precision of additive manufactured parts and presented the ongoing research on fringe projection. After the presentations, the students joined complementary skills training on presenting efficiency and speaking skills. On the fourth day, they participated in a team building activity to establish a better and closer relationship between early stage researchers and help them to cooperate.
