“Thermal and energy performance of the 3D printed concrete”
by Meruyert Sovetova | Ph.D. Researcher
Meruyert Sovetova

Biography:
Meruyert Sovetova is a PhD student in Building Technology in the BEE research group at the University of Nottingham. She completed her undergraduate and master's degrees in Civil Engineering in Kazakhstan. She worked as a research assistant on a project related to PCM integration into buildings. Her research interests include energy-efficient buildings, PCM and additive manufacturing in construction. Her PhD focuses on the thermal and energy performance of 3D-printed buildings, aiming to identify the difference in performance between traditional cast and 3D-printed concrete structures and propose optimal parameters for 3D-printed walls.

“Developing a Digital Framework to Retrofit Community Area Buildings”
by Mohammad Hamdan |Ph.D. Researcher

Mohammad Hamdan

Biography:

Mohammad Hamdan is a planner and architect who blends academic and professional experience. He obtained a master's degree in spatial planning and a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering. He was initially employed as an architect, then became a lecturer, spending five years teaching different courses at Jordanian universities.

In his PhD, Mohammad is studying to develop a digital framework for retrofitting community area building. He has combined Building Energy simulation tools with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Furthermore, he examines both individual building retrofitting and the same building retrofitting process when considering the microclimate parameters.

Outside of his studies, Mohammad is an associated member of the Green Roofs organisation in the UK and a reviewer of the Advance in Building Energy journal. Moreover, he is a member of the ERA skills community.
