The Composites Research group at Nottingham is one of the leading international research groups in this area. The group has worked for over 25 years on Composites Science and Manufacturing projects, focusing on the processing and performance of advanced fibre composites.
Research is applied within a number of sectors including automotive, aerospace, wind energy, power generation and medicine.
The Composites group leads The EPSRC Future Composites Manufacturing Research Hub, developing basic and applied research into composites manufacturing science and technology for the UK community.
Key activities include:
- Cost effective processing for thermosetting polymer matrices
- Textile composites
- Simulation of Manufacturing processes
- Bio-composites, including work on regenerative implants
