A new piece of choral music by Holly Marland and people with dementia, celebrating creativity
Musician and composer Holly Marland set up the Adages project to give people with dementia the chance to create a new and beautiful piece of music working with talented professional and student musicians.
Creative sessions in residential care homes and hospitals supported by Music in Hospitals, RNCM, Manchester Cathedral, Carers Link and Arts Council England resulted in a new musical story (oratorio). It will be performed by students from the RNCM, soloists from BBC Daily Service Singers, Jennifer Reid (Broadside Balladeer), Michael Cretu (double bass), Manchester Children's Choir with Christopher Stokes, Golden Voices, Carers Chorus, St George's Singers and local singers conducted by Sasha Johnson Manning.
Tickets can be booked and are also available on the door.
The performance lasts 60 minutes and will be inclusive and accessible to all, especially people with dementia and their carers. If ticket cost, transport or other issues are of concern, please contact Adages on 07935 601196 or adagesdementia@gmail.com and we will try to help. Information and networking with dementia agencies will be available after the concert.
