Margaret Bell is Professor of Transport and the Environment at Newcastle. Her main contribution to knowledge rests with queueing model for TRANSYT, ageing of traffic signal plans and pioneering research in assessment of impacts and management of traffic related environment, exposure and health. Professor Bell was named Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to sustainable transport in the Queen’s 80th Birthday Honours List in 2006.
