New £7m grant to develop sustainable electrification

A rapid genome-proteome approach to identify rate-limiting steps in the butyrate production pathway in probiotic Clostridium butyricum, CBM588

Description
BDI post-doc researchers have found a way to enhance butyrate production, a key compound linked to gut health.Using a novel rapid genome-proteome approach, they identified enzymes that limit butyrate production and successfully increased output by over-expressing key genes. This breakthrough could lead to stronger probiotics with greater health benefits.
