Arts, Health and Wellbeing Seminar Series
To develop understandings of how the arts may contribute to health and wellbeing.

 

Health Humanities

Madness in Post 1945 British and American Fiction
To adopt a critical approach in examining the literary representation of madness in post-World War Two UK and US fiction.

Madness and Literature Network
To stimulate cooperation and co-working between researchers, academics, clinicians, service users, carers and creative writers in order to develop an interdisciplinary, global dialogue about the issues raised around representations of madness in literature.

Talking cleanliness in health and agriculture
To investigate the narratives and discourses around cleanliness in two sectors: general and mental health hospitals (dealing with the threat of MRSA) and poultry farms (dealing with the threat of avian flu) and to compare them with policy and media discourses.

International Health Humanities Network
To explore, celebrate and develop new approaches in advancing health and wellbeing through the arts and humanities in hospitals, residential and community settings.

 

Recovery and Social Inclusion

Shared Decision-Making Processes in In-patient Mental Health Services: A discourse analysis
This project will report on a qualitative research project which explored these issues amongst groups of stake-holders.

 

Other

Effective identification and management of domestic violence within the ED setting
This project will examine current provision of domestic abuse nurse specialists, the impact of the nurse specialist role and potential future developments.
