My Marriage My Choice

Project News for Autumn 2017

Filming well underway for forced marriage awareness film

We have been busy over the last couple of months filming for the awareness film that will be available early next year. People with learning disabilities and those whose support them have played a very valuable role in helping us to create the film. We have most of the footage now and will have filming completed by early December in readiness for editing and production early next year.

Capacity Assessment Toolkit for practitioners almost there!

The working group developing this toolkit (which will assist a whole range of practitioners in assessing capacity to consent to marry) have almost completed their work on this and it is currently being compiled ready for release early next year.

Launch events

All of the outputs from the My Marriage My Choice Project will be made freely available next year to support in safeguarding people who may be at risk of forced marriage. There will be launch events in Nottingham and in London - dates for these will be advertised soon.
