Aims

Overall aim is to further develop the Dignity Care Intervention for use by community nurses with older patients nearing the end of life. Specifically, the study aims:

  1. To conduct a systematic review to identify appropriate Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) and Nurse Reported Outcome Measures (NROMs) to assess the effectiveness of the Dignity Care Intervention
  2. To conduct focus group sessions with community nurses to ascertain the barriers and challenges to the implementation of research and discuss the ways in which these can be overcome
  3. To develop an proposal application for the NIHR Programme Grants for Applied Research funding stream, to secure funding for further research, with the aim of implementing and adopting the DCI into routine practice for community nurses delivering end of life care.

Methods
