Aims
The aim of this study is to explore the effectiveness of the Patient Dignity Question on improving person-centred care for people with palliative needs being cared for in an acute hospital setting.
Methods
Primary Hypothesis: the PDQ as an intervention will result in more positive post-intervention scores on person-centred care and empathy compared to baseline scores.
Secondary Hypothesis: the PDQ as an intervention will be acceptable to patients, families and staff.
The pilot study will adopt a mixed method before and after design. This method is effective for evaluating a complex intervention which is patient centred and individualised. Data will be collected using standard outcome measures; collection of standard demographic measures and a qualitative interview.
