The annual Joint Leicester and Nottingham Respiratory Research day was held for the first time in Nottingham this year. The day was very well attended with 150 registered delegates.

The keynote address was given by Professor Sebastian Johnston from University College London entitled “Mechanisms of asthma exacerbations” which stimulated some interesting discussion.

A total of 14 young researchers gave oral presentations and 28 posters were also presented.

  • Airway remodelling and fibrosis
  • Bacterial, fungal and viral growth and infection.
  • Smoking
  • Exercise and rehabilitation in patients with lung disease.
