Taiwan. A puppet master falls asleep and dreams: the puppets wake up and take the audience on a quest through time in the heart of the Dadaocheng district of Taipei. We plunge into the contemporary history of Taiwan and that of major characters and events. They are key to the emergence and affirmation of the nation's identity. The visual style of the film, typical of dreams, is a filter for this questioning of identity.
