Translational Infection Biology

Our research team

Led by Professor James Leigh and Dr Sharon Egan, our bacterial phenomics research team also includes Professor Richard Emes, Dr Tania Dottorini, and Dr Tracey Coffey. They’re supported by two postgraduate students, Morena Santi (PhD) and Virginia Sherwin (PhD).

Together, the team has extensive expertise in all aspects of molecular biology, next-generation sequencing technologies, bacteriology, disease pathogenesis, bioinformatics and computational biology.

This includes molecular biology of streptococci, their virulence and pathogenesis (Professor James Leigh), molecular bacteriology, immunology and disease biology (Dr Sharon Egan and Dr Tracey Coffey) and machine learning, bioinformatics and systems biology analysis (Professor Richard Emes and Dr Tania Dottorini).
