Welcome to the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre (UTC) in manufacturing and on-wing technology at the University of Nottingham. We are a multi-disciplinary research team exploring all aspects of aerospace manufacture, with a particular interests in the areas of fixturing and on-wing inspection and repair robotic systems.
Beyond these core research interests the UTC also has expertise in; the design of special purpose manufacturing robotics, non-conventional machining processes (especially in difficult to cut materials), and in-process sensing and monitoring technologies.
Robotic systems for in-situ repair is one of the research areas for UTC team. We focuses on developing fundamentally novel, miniaturised robotic systems...
Mechatronics is an interdisciplinary strand that focuses on the synergistic integration of mechanical, electronic, and electrical engineering systems.
The University Technology Centre (UTC) in Manufacturing has a good capability on advanced manufacturing technologies such as conventional machining, waterjet milling/cutting...
Fixtures and tools are critical manufacturing items in every process as they construct the bridge between the workpiece and the tool that will perform the operation.
