Zootherapy – 'walking pharmacies'

Animal-based medicine, or 'zootherapy', was commonly practised in the past. Today, it is used in societies where there is a ‘non-Western’ approach to medicine. This suggests that animals have always been important in maintaining human health. Is this because they were seen as ‘walking pharmacies’?
