6.1 course summary 1. A coordinate system provides a systematic means of specifying the position of a particle. A system in one dimension involves choosing an origin and a positive direction in which values of the position coordinate increase. Values of the position coordinate are positive or negative numbers multiplied by an appropriate unit of length, usually the SI unit of length, the metre (m). 2. The movement of a particle along a line can be described graphically by plotting values of the particle's
Introduction This course looks at a wide variety of ways of comparing prices and the construction of a price index. You will look at the Retail Price Index (RPI) and the Consumer Price Index (CPI), indices used by the UK Government to calculate the percentage by which prices in general have risen over any given period. You will also look at the important statistical and mathematical ideas that contribute to the construction of a price index. In order to complete this course you will need to have
3.1 Listening to and taking notes from a telephone call In this section you practise obtaining information on the phone. You describe a relocation site as part of the more detailed research into the advantages of possible locations. In the next activity you listen to a telephone call between Steve Vance who works for the Reloc agency and an employee of the Commission for New Towns (CNT), an agency whose task is to promote the development of a number of new towns and provide information for companies that wish to relocate. Course image: Author(s): 4.1 Preparing In the preparation phase you should pause before starting a new section of work and think about it as a whole. What needs to be covered? What are the various components of this block of work? What are the learning objectives or outcomes? What will you need to know and be able to do at the end of it? What is required in the assignment? There are two main activities during this phase, both directly related to your course work and assignment: 1.4: Price ratios and price indices
Aims
The main aim of this section is to look at some different ways of measuring price increases. In this section you will be looking at measuring price changes using price indices. In order to do this you will need to understand the concept of a price ratio. Price ratios are another way of looking at price increases or decreases, related to the proportional and percentage increases and decreases you have seen before. Introduction Graphs are a common way of presenting information. However, like any other type of representation, graphs rely on shared understandings of symbols and styles to convey meaning. Also, graphs are normally drawn specifically with the intention of presenting information in a particularly favourable or unfavourable light, to convince you of an argument or to influence your decisions. This course takes a look at how one set of photographs, used as part of a particular demand, was created. It looks at the process of producing images by exploring a series of photographs made with the intention of affecting the way a globalised industry is seen and understood. The industry in question is the oil industry based in Aberdeen, on Scotland' Civil Rights Tour Babbage: The rise of the drone-selfie 2.1.1 The diagram Suppose that a manager is planning or exploring the possibility of a change (in working practices, for example). The manager can represent the current situation as a horizontal line. The driving forces, those forces or reasons that are supportive of a change, can be represented as downward-pointing arrows that are seeking to push the line. The restraining forces, those forces or reasons that are likely to resist the change, can then be represented by upward-pointing arrows that are supporting Experiments as Modus Operandi Bt Corn Introduction to the 18C Novel 1.3 Marking decimals on a scale
Figure 2 shows a picture of a ruler. The major units are marked in centimetres (1 to 11 cm), whilst the intervals between the centimetres have each been split into ten equal, smaller units. These minor units are therefore tenths of a centimetre, commonly known as 'millimetres'. (There are 10 millimetres in 1 The Law Of Power From the author's introduction: The people of the world stand under the principle of power. The whole social entity is governed by power, this being the highest value peoples aspire to and by which they counted, weighed, and judged. But, contrary to what is usually assumed, it is not external power which determines everything, but fundamentally internal power is the core of the power phenomenon. As this core gradually matures over time, it bursts open the shell of external p 6.450 Principles of Digital Communications I (MIT)

The video is 2:50 minutes long and provides the history of the rise and fall of the Mongol Empire, one of the largest empires in the history of the world. Once Genghis Khan was made ruler of all Mongols in 1206, the Mongols quickly expanded into Europe and Asia. Statistics include how violent these people were and how the soldiers started as youngsters. A good overview.

Architecture has for too long focused on the presentation of pristine objects and the presentation in drawing form. A critical understanding of the field, however, necessitates a reevaluation of the roles of the process involved in the production of building. Rather than emphasizing surface appearances, an architecture rooted in process aims ultimately at revealing the fundamental and deep structures inherent within the making of architecture. One of the primary tasks of the process is to provok
Scientists are now able to insert the genes of Bacillus thuringiensis, or Bt, into farmers' crops in order to prevent a hostile takeover by pests. But what happens when the pests become resistant? Learn about the "refuge" system and how researchers are manipulating selective pressures in order to try and slow the development of Bt-resistant pests. Run time 05:33.
Introduction to the 18C Novel
The course serves as an introduction to the theory and practice behind many of today's communications systems. 6.450 forms the first of a two-course sequence on digital communication. The second class, 6.451, is offered in the spring.
Topics covered include: digital communications at the block diagram level, data compression, Lempel-Ziv algorithm, scalar and vector quantization, sampling and aliasing, the Nyquist criterion, PAM and QAM modulation, signal constellations, finite-energy waveform sp
