3.2 Multiplying and dividing To multiply and divide by 10, 100, 1000, etc., write the digits in their place value columns. To multiply, move the digits to the left (replacing the numbers on the right with zeros) and to divide move them to the right (putting in a decimal point, and any zeros necessary for the place value). Multiplication and division by whole numbers in general can be carried out by combining this technique with a knowledge of the multiplication tables up to 10. The appeal of this set of claims was the hope that different peoples could live together in peace and security. It was an attempt to accommodate difference (through the idea of national self-d Tower Blocks - neglect and renewal 7.4.3 Chemical vapour deposition (CVD) If step coverage or equipment cost is more critical than purity, then PVD is supplanted by CVD. There are many variants on the chemical vapour deposition technique, but the concept is simple: gases adsorb onto the wafer surface where a chemical reaction forms a solid product. Any other products are gases, or at least volatile liquids, and are pumped away. There is one obvious restriction: the wafer surface must be the only place where the reaction can occur. This is chiefly because, like the plays of Shakespeare, Doctor Faustus was written during the historical period known as the Renaissance (or the early modern period), when the vocabulary was significantly different from twenty-first-century English. It is also written largely in blank verse, a term that requires a few words of explanation. However, there may have been last-minute wishes that Meg was unable to express. Li’s sudden stroke may have left her with things unsaid, but her

Although we will be listening to and studying many pieces (most of the highest caliber) the goal of the course is not solely to build up a repertory of works in our memory (though that is indeed a goal). We will be most concerned with larger questions of continuity and change in music. We will also consider questions of reception, or historiography - that is, the creation
