Welcome Week

Whatever year you are in, Welcome Week is always a busy time, with registration, talks, meetings, module entry and, for some of you, study sessions.  This section has timetables for all of the Welcome week activities in Computer Science and many centrally organised activities as well.

The Students' Union and the University's various clubs and societies (including our own CompSoc and HackSoc) also organise events during welcome week.

If you are studying in the School of Computer Science then all of your official activities should be listed here, but if you are based in another School, or doing a non-standard course of study then these timetables may not show everything relevant to you.

Registration

Prior to arrival in Nottingham you should be able to register online with the University via the student portal (http://my.nottingham.ac.uk).

For general University information on registration, please see:

www.nottingham.ac.uk/academicservices/currentstudents/registration

By the end of the first week you should:

  • have completed registration procedures with both the University and the School
  • know the details of your personal tutor and have scheduled an individual tutorial with them
  • have made your initial module choices.

What do I do if I miss Welcome Week?

Don't worry, just report to the Student Service Centre on Jubilee Campus, located in the Exchange Building (2 on the map).

Reading Lists

You don't have to buy or read course text books before you start your course - but some people may wish to do so. Teaching is organised into modules and consequently so are text books.
You can browse the University's central reading list database if you know which modules you are interested in (University log-in required).
