The Centre for Genetics and Genomics (formally known as the Institute of Genetics) includes the former Department of Genetics (est. 1971) and other members from the School of Biology as its nucleus. In addition, many other members are included from other Schools within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Wade,  Chris We use DNA and protein sequences to determine evolutionary relationships among species, to examine genetic variation within populations and as molecular barcodes for the identification of species. Research in the lab is focussed in three main areas, the gastropod molluscs (snails and slugs), the Foraminifera (marine protists used as indicators of past climate) and parasitic nematodes (with emphasis on human and veterinary parasites of the genus Angiostrongylus).
