About IESSG and CGS

The Institute of Engineering Surveying and Space Geodesy (IESSG), formerly known as the Nottingham Surveying Group, has been active for almost 40 years. The Institute has excellent facilities and has earned global renown for its cutting edge research in these and related fields. This research feeds into the Institute’s post-graduate programmes which continue to generate worldwide demand and respect.

The core of Institute research activity has traditionally focused around satellite navigation and positioning systems, this has widened to include fields such as photogrammetry, remote sensing, sensor integration and geographical information systems. See the IESSG site for more details.

The Centre for Geospatial Science (CGS) is a major cross-disciplinary research centre for geospatial science established in April 2005. CGS is a key part of the University of Nottingham's strategic investment in innovative research, not only pioneering research in geospatial techniques, but investigating how these advances can augment other fields. See the CGS site for more details.
