KTP - Success Story

When Prime Minister David Cameron recently visited Yorkshire to talk about his new economic strategy for the UK, and his government’s determination to help boost UK businesses, it was perhaps not surprising that two innovative companies he visited have both been involved in Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTPs).

The first was Pace in Saltaire, the world’s largest supplier of set-top boxes to the payTV industry. Pace were involved in a successful KTP project with Dr Steven Freear, from the School of Electronic & Electrical Engineering at the University of Leeds, to develop coaxial and powerline interconnection technologies for the distribution of TV and data around the home. Neil Gaydon, CEO of Pace said during the visit ‘as a global technology leader based in Yorkshire, we at Pace hope we are doing our bit to keep Britain’s high tech pioneers motivated and positive about the future. I firmly believe UK business can – with a collective focus on staying ahead of the market and being just that bit more courageous and visionary – come through this downturn in great shape, delivering exciting products and services that consumers will love’.
