Student wins for best oral presentation at National HIV Nurses Association Conference

Sophie Kavallares

On 26 and 27 June 2014, the 16th Annual National HIV Nurses Association Conference was held in Cardiff.

The School of Health Sciences was very well represented with presentations from John McLuskey (Associate Professor), Catrin Evans (Lecturer), Sylivia Nalubega (PhD Student), Gertrude Mawalaba (PhD Student) and Sophie Kavallares (recent graduate from the Master of Nursing Science course). In total they took part in six different presentations.

Sophie's presentation was her dissertation topic - 'A qualitative exploration of Adult Nurses' perceptions of caring for a patient with an infectious disease, with a primary focus on HIV'. The presentation was excellent and drew great support from the audience. In recognition of this Sophie was awarded a prize for the Best Oral Presentation at conference.
