School Robin Hood Half Marathon team cross the finish line

shs-robinhood-team-2015

Huge congratulations to the School of Health Sciences (SHS) Robin Hood Half Marathon team, who have crossed the finish line, and have so far raised over £2000 for Dream Big Ghana.

Dream Big Ghana is a charity operating in the Volta Region of Ghana, where several of our nursing students have undertaken their elective placement. The charity builds compost toilets in villages where there is no sanitation, making life more comfortable and generating great fertilizer for the sandy soil. Each toilet costs around £600 to build and serves 20 or more people.

All team members; Patrick Callaghan (Head of School), Jonathan Lamley (School Manger), Fiona Moffat (Lecturer), Virinder Lail (Marketing and Communications Manager), Linda East (Assistant Professor) and Penny Hogg (student) successfully crossed the finish line. The fastest member of the team was our School Manager, Jonathan Lamley completing the half marathon with a speedy time of 1:37:32, (we trust he didn’t take a shortcut!)

The team would like to thank everybody for their support and generous donations so far. The Virgin Money Giving page is still open for donations until 31 October 2015.  Offline donations are also most welcome directly to any of the SHS Robin Hood Marathon team.
