Research data storage

The University of Nottingham's research filestore (R: drive) is centrally managed and provided by Information Services.

The R: drive includes failover support across two separate data centres. Full backups to tape are performed once a week, while incremental backups are performed nightly.


Who is the service for?

Research groups who require a location to store research project specific, active (working) data.

How do I access the service?

The Research Data Team supports storage for published research data to meet funder and/or publisher requirements.

Contact the Research Data Team

Active project data with an initial capacity of 1TB by contacting local Campus IT support or the IT Service Desk.

What does the service cost?

Free at point of use, although space allocations are limited to 5TB at most.
