This package is designed as an introduction to dipstick urine testing. It is aimed at all health professionals who will be performing this task.

Dipstick urine testing can be performed in a wide variety of clinical situations.

For example:

It is possible to test for a wide range of substances using urine dipsticks. Those commonly tested for include blood, glucose, protein, leucocytes, nitrites and ketones. Blood, glucose and protein testing will be discussed in some detail during this package. This corresponds to the OSCE for the second year medical students. However leucocytes, nitrites, ketones and testing for other less clinically relevant substances will also be discussed in the results interpretation section.
