Current Research

In my research I seek to develop biomaterials that positively impact the healthcare sector, focusing on exploring the biological-material interface through an interdisciplinary approach. I have pioneered high throughput screening methodologies for the discovery of novel biomaterials, focusing on polymers resistant to bacterial attachment.

In addition, I am fascinated by the complexity and biological role of polysaccharides such as glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), and have developed novel analytical approaches to enable their spatial assessment within pharmaceutical formulations, various biological fluids such as urine and blood, as well as within tissue samples. I am particularly interested at being able to harness the bioinstructive properties of GAGs for biomaterial applications.
