Biography

Giovanni grew up on a dairy farm in Sicily and graduated from Bologna University in 2012. In his early career, he spent some years working in Italy; during this time, he attended and completed a post-graduate school in "Animal Health, Breeding, and Livestock Production" at Teramo University (Italy). Between 2015 and 2020, he gained a wide range of international experiences as a practitioner, including in Hungary, Lao PDR, Malta, as well as within the UK (Aberdeenshire and Norfolk). Giovanni joined the University of Glasgow in 2020 for the European College Bovine Health Management residency and passed his certifying exam in September 2023. In November 2023, he joined the University of Nottingham as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Farm Animal Health and Welfare. His main clinical and research areas include rumination activity monitored by sensor technology and lameness.
