Title: Rehabilitation for Outdoor Activities & Mobility in Care Homes: the ROAM STUDY
Date and time: Thursday, 13th April, 11.30am – 12.30pm
Venue: Room A08, Institute of Mental Health, Triumph Road
Abstract: Care home residents should be supported to participate in meaningful activities in their preferred places, including outdoor spaces. Although outdoor engagement in greenspace is believed to be beneficial, the majority of residents stay indoors. Using a realist approach, this study is investigating what helps and gets in the way of residents’ garden use. Data has been collected in 3 care homes in the East Midlands and analysis is currently in progress. Amanda will present an overview of the study and share some preliminary findings.
Amanda's research is supported by the Division of Rehabilitation and Ageing at the University of Nottingham, and Local Partnerships - Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation NHS Trust.
